First let me share the new guest first, selected from a poll (I have checked the poll again and now there's a tie between this character and another. It's "too late", but still I might do something about that 👀). 

She's a megane (glasses), a gloomy writer of light novels and she gets  in lots of trouble in stupid ways. She'll be in rotation as a guest from 0.1.6 onward.

I'm finally happy with her portrait design after a couple of tries :D

I've also redone Chiharu's onsen portrait, plus adding Misaki's:

And! The majority of the week was actually spent redrawing the background of the Title Menu / Night Screen. i originally did it as a "I have to do this but can't spend much time on it", so it was always meant to be a placeholder. Now coming back as a more confident artist, I decided to give it another go.

The shadow thing was cool, but wanted it to better represent the ryokan. The obvious answer was having it be the onsen.

I was doing it at 350x196, but decided to make it 450x252 to have more definition, so upscaled to 1920x1080 looks pretty good. It's the first time doing really big pixel art, and I'm pretty happy!

The katakana on the right are "ku ro ko" (croco), "ra bu, i n" (Love Inn), ha. I'll do animations on it, like the birds moving around and water mist. It's missing still things, but didn't want to spend a whole week on it, so I switched to the other drawings.
